The Outer Brood – BETA

Its October, and its beta time.

Once again this year, AOU was invited to assist with Beta raiding for the new expansion – The Outer Brood.

Our first raid, extremely early on into Beta testing (just a few days after it opening) was headed again by the nice guy of DPG Devs – Ngreth.

Our turnout was good this year, and Ngreth informed us that the event we would be testing would be the entry level raid of the expansion. The raid named “Herald of the Outer Brood”, set in Hodstock Hills, designed by Absor (as it seems are most raids this expansion) features some new graphical NPC models unique to this expansion.

In the quick heads up about what we might expect, the boss was described as an “Angel” model, so I was expecting a classic catholic blonde Adonis with big old feathery wings…. However….

Being a educated man, I recognised this flying nightmare for what it is, and top marks to the art team for producing this thing, an actual angel.

The event itself was perhaps slightly easy, but being this early into the testing I expect Absor to change a few aspects of it, otherwise it was pretty much ready to go out the box with most things working as intended.

From what ive seen so far, I really like the new creatures, and looking forward to our next Beta encounters.

LauriOns Song – Beta

Tier 3 – Final Fugue

Beta is back again, and into the deep-end we go.

Once again, assisting the intrepid Ngreth

We were tasked with taking a look at the Final Fugue, to test its abilities and see how many times we could leash the boss.

Not an overly complex event, but certainly one to pay attention on

The brief glimpse we had, shows promise to be a good expansion, lets see how much I hate it in a years time.

edit : Congratulations on Purrfection for pointing out the misspelling of Laurions Song on the page title, its been here months and no one else noticed.

Night of Shadows – Beta

The Phantom Menace – Luclin Style.

Once again our yearly custom to do the new Everquest expansion as beta came around, we were assigned two slots with a Dev, the esteemed one himself – Ngreth.

With Ngreths accompaniment, we took at look at the Tier 3 raid in Shar Val – Under Siege.

This is an interesting event based around defending the cats from the forces of Akheva.  However, even with our own cat army, it wasn’t too long before Ngreth got to inspect the quieter side of AOU.

(And if you ever read this Absor, please take note that casting root on four mobs every six seconds for half an hour in the dark is not my idea of fun, that is punishment)

Anyway, besides Ngreths directive, we took a look at some other events, two of which also take part in Shar Val.

The first of these was a divergence from the usual style of raids, with it not just being a whole bunch of trash with 30 different emotes to fail with, it involved a teleporting Tony tiger illusionist named Jakarashev, which proved to take my attention away from taking screenshots, so you only get that one.

The other event, in the Pit, gives you a “few” mobs to deal with, we visited this on a couple of occasions to learn quite an amount on how close you can be without accidentally triggering the mobs to fustercluck your unexpecting half afk raidteam.

After learning all we had the tolerance for there, we took a look at what is “currently” an easier event (currently as in its beta, and like an episode of Stingray, anything can happen with it)

This expansion has them luclin screaming insects reimagined, but more colourful and less screamy, this time around they are joined with a gigantic mamajammer boss named Hashiss.

Hopefully, this event doesn’t change toooooo much as I believe as it is, is to be the perfect entry point for the expansion.

We did after a bit of work and learning achieve this.

and without trying, an achievement

Thats it for Beta so far that im going to post about, but ill leave off with this…
