The Second Night of Shadows

Its February

Twas the second phase of Nos, within a selection of zone,
Many a new raid was happening, including a shape changing Cone;
The apparitions came forth by the guild we did beat,
In hopes that the Butterfly form was not Temort, which he thought was neat.

The raiders became all smug in their heads,
While an army of Mushrooms paraded to us complete with legs;
And the Star in their grandeur, with I disregarding flusterbolt root,
Had learned the AOU way to give up the myconids loot,

When a distance noise alerted us to a third event,
We sprang tward the hubbub to investigate the scent.
For first away on bench did I retreat like a flash,
But on our second try the day later did we receive the cache.

The boss before us was a giant tiger not named Tony
Gave the guild flashbacks of phase ones phoney,
When colours he did change, we found could be breached.
To the end of tier two we had reached.

And without context Rhyme did we revisit an old raid,
But tactics forgotten, half the attendees got played.

Meanwhile, last week in Night of Shadows

Night of Shadows – Tier one – Week one

As AOU had spent some considerable minutes, nay, hours, looking at Night of Shadows tier one raids in Beta, it came to no ones surprise that we beat two of the three events on our first tries, and the third event the next day.

All three of these raids i’ve covered in some detail with the beta testing, so no real need to flog my own log saying the same old shit time and time again.

The first event, something something insect something. Is the one with the giant screaming ant thing, as we beat this easily on beta, it was our first target and proved to be equally easy live.

Most guilds with even an half-awake raidforce should be able to beat it with little difficulty.

The second event with quadruple helpings of Tony Tiger showed that just navigating Shar Val to be a challenge, but equally quite beatable, however, guilds may require a fully awake raidforce to win !

And the third event, in the Pit, is just a graphics test for older machines, see how much crap you can cram in to a small area, and not immediately goose your tanks when the action is triggered.

We didn’t spend too much time with this one in Beta, so a portion of it was unknown, not that it really mattered in the end as them ugly goblinoids took a dirt nap when we figured out where and when the players needed to not AFK.

And now we wait, knocking out these events every week now until the next tier goes live.

Night of Shadows – Beta

The Phantom Menace – Luclin Style.

Once again our yearly custom to do the new Everquest expansion as beta came around, we were assigned two slots with a Dev, the esteemed one himself – Ngreth.

With Ngreths accompaniment, we took at look at the Tier 3 raid in Shar Val – Under Siege.

This is an interesting event based around defending the cats from the forces of Akheva.  However, even with our own cat army, it wasn’t too long before Ngreth got to inspect the quieter side of AOU.

(And if you ever read this Absor, please take note that casting root on four mobs every six seconds for half an hour in the dark is not my idea of fun, that is punishment)

Anyway, besides Ngreths directive, we took a look at some other events, two of which also take part in Shar Val.

The first of these was a divergence from the usual style of raids, with it not just being a whole bunch of trash with 30 different emotes to fail with, it involved a teleporting Tony tiger illusionist named Jakarashev, which proved to take my attention away from taking screenshots, so you only get that one.

The other event, in the Pit, gives you a “few” mobs to deal with, we visited this on a couple of occasions to learn quite an amount on how close you can be without accidentally triggering the mobs to fustercluck your unexpecting half afk raidteam.

After learning all we had the tolerance for there, we took a look at what is “currently” an easier event (currently as in its beta, and like an episode of Stingray, anything can happen with it)

This expansion has them luclin screaming insects reimagined, but more colourful and less screamy, this time around they are joined with a gigantic mamajammer boss named Hashiss.

Hopefully, this event doesn’t change toooooo much as I believe as it is, is to be the perfect entry point for the expansion.

We did after a bit of work and learning achieve this.

and without trying, an achievement

Thats it for Beta so far that im going to post about, but ill leave off with this…
