TOL Live Episode 2

Terror of Luclin Tier 2

A delayed update since the last news for many reasons, main one being slackness from me,

Previously on AOU Raids…. Tol tier 1 was 2/3rds beaten, with only the swarmcaller to best, and at the time I considered it the harder event of the three in the zone.

naturally, as is tradition, the event was cleared the day after the news report was published, and we have gone on to regularly farm the first three raids with ease.

Im now of the opinion that Swarmcaller is by far the easiest of the three and i’m amazed it took us a couple of days to figure it out.

Of course, that wasn’t the only thing we did before Tier 2 went live.

Due to the incessant whining of this guy, and his unnatural obsession with crap ornaments, we returned to an older event of last year and finished up some dumb drake achievement to unlock a selection of not so special junk to put on weapons.

Now thats all done with, we can move on to Tier 2 of TOL, which we beat in the first couple of days of it going live.

Shei we had experienced to a small degree in Beta with Absor, so we had a perhaps 20% advantage on how the event works, a lot of running about in a small room, not my favourite…

Gouranga !, Free the Goranga, again we saw a little in Beta, this time without Absor, giving us a 30% advantage on how to deal with the raid, I quite like this one.

And finally Aten Ha Ra, which we didn’t see at all in Beta, so we had to work to learn it, delaying beating the tier by a couple of days.

Good to see we are in full swing of the expansion, and can see the backend of the previous expansions Fatass events like Tantor and the pastie eating golem

Terror of Luclin

Raiding week 1 – day 1

As has become the norm, we have to wait a month for the first raids to be pushed active after a new expansion launch, while slightly irritating, it does lend chance and opportunity for character development including in this expansion, the advancement to level 120.

The three raids available are all occurring in the updated version of Umbral planes, and surprisingly not gatekept behind beating each one in succession, so at our choice we decide which raids to focus on first.

Our initial raid was directed towards the donkey Zelnithank, which we had learned the most from of the trio during a day testing on Beta.

A reasonably enjoyable event that could (and should) have been Thuliasaur Island Dinosaurs back in the Darkened Sea expansion 8 years ago.

We beat it first try, im not going to say it was easy but it was pretty generic as far as modern raids go. an excellent opening encounter that many guilds can get a grip with and dominate.

And I cannot move on from this event without mentioning the glorious loot, which included a bunch of these…

Its a step up from the cloth necklaces we used to get, as its a defaulted item now for incorrectly coded loot, in this case being the usual raid ornaments that come in quantities in lootchests.

After the Zelnithak win, we moved onto the Netherbian Swarm Commander, and learned that we hadn’t learned enough about it.

Raiding week 1 – day 2

Fueled on by the donkey win, and the crushing defeat by the claws of the NSC, our 2nd day headed to Doomshade.

We didn’t learn too much about this event in beta, besides that if you dont do something, everyone explodes.

We learned how the something needs to be done, and mass explosions were averted, so, again, first try on live, another first kill.

Obtaining 4 more invalid items as loot from Doomshade suggests some patches in duecourse (seeing as we got 3 yesterday, I have to assume that the extra gremlin was a substitute for a full suit of ornaments, that’s our ornament luck used up for a few months then)

Afterwards, we went back to the Swarmcaller, and learned more, I think we will eventually learn enough to beat it next week.

Before finishing this news report, I present the MVP of Sundays raiding, but I wont add any demeaning comments, I just wont say a thing…

Claws of Veeshan – Vulak the sleeper

In the time measured by flipping a burger, Vulak the Sleeper of CoV earned a dirt nap.

An interesting and quite enjoyable raid in the end, well balanced and I think about the right difficulty for what it was, its no pushover for sure.

This was our second attempt at him on the night, the first failed with him at 1%, but I feel that its not descriptive to dwell on that try, and I’m not going to just write the word “Bollocks” fifty times either, we were still learning the event after all…

The amount of information we had on the event going in, beyond knowledge of the group version is covered on the allakhazam page as seen in its entirety below (complete with spelling mistakes)

And so, beyond that, not much to add other than I guess its only Aaryonar next to unlock the tradeskill icecubes on the raid vendor, at least its current content…

oh aye, before I go, here is a zaph eye view of what I saw most of during the event.

But you have to admire my golem parking skills, someone had to do the job.
